eHZ (Winter Haven, FL.)

Had a open weekend, 70 mile drive to race toy cars! :-)

A couple Slash drivers were having a problem getting their Slash's to handle right. They didn't seem to willing to listen to me until I out TQ'd the local fast guy!!!!!!! Then they listened, but only one made the changes and was fast enough to make the A-main.

NOT every RC wish is for a RC or a part. Some RC wishes are for the knowledge to set up a RC.

This racer told me just before the main that he qual'd four places better then ever before against the same racers!!!

As I was packing my car (Toyota) to leave, this racer stop in the middle of the road beside me and THANKED me again for the assist!!! 70 miles one way to make a RC wish, can't put a price on that!!! :-)

FZRC (Sarasota, FL.)

Was at FZ for round 5 of the Spring Series, they redesigned about 50% of the track and that half of the track didn't have the rubber down for a "Grooved" surface. This means half the track is a tire eater!!! Jim told me "You will need 3 sets of tire today". I laughed to myself!!!

Had GREAT traction for about half the first qual, thought the track needed to have the dust blown off, until I picked my the T4 after that qual, the NEW tires were BALD!!! Had left my other set at home so I put a set of SC tires on the rear for the second qual.

I checked the hobby shop and they didn't have any ST tires so I checked with Erik (he is the guy that painted the Rustler body for us) to see he he had a set I could buy. He had a extra set of JC Barcodes. Asked how much, he said for you nothing, your RC wish is made!!! :-)

As you know I'm normally the person giving out RC stuff, NOT getting it for me!!!

Have to go back two weeks, cause I FORGOT to post about Cody!!!!!!

===================

4/7/2013

FZRC (Sarasota, FL.)

Cody's dad bought my Losi XXX-SCT two weeks earlier to have a RC to race with his three kids with (they all have one). Cody like the Losi better than his Duratrax so!!!!

This is Cody's 2nd ever race! He TQ'd and lead for two minutes of the 5 minute main then the motor, a 17x2 brush motor started to died!!! About 90 sec from the finish it died!!!! As Cody walked by me he said "That's racn' "!!!! Was he unhappy that he didn't finish you bet, but that didn't get him down.

Brushless Hobbies had given "MRCW" one of their 120 amp brushless ESC's, OVER six months ago!!!!! When we received this we put a Novak 13.5 motor in the ESC box.

The BIG eyes that a kid has when they get something that they are not expecting is part of what "MRCW" is all about.

FZRC (Sarasota, FL.)

Erik, a team driver for Brushless Hobbies (he is the racer who contacted BH about "MRCW") assisted Cody in getting the gearing right for his Losi for the day.

After Cody lapped ALL the racers in the first qual, we did a motor temp check 140 degrees << that is just right! In the 2nd qual he lapped all the racers more than 2 times!!! The main he lead from the tone and drove away from the other racers!

Marty, track owner wants Cody to move out of the Novice class. With the Novak 13.5 motor that would place him in the same class as ME!!!! I already have my hands full with his older brother!!

FZRC (Sarasota, FL)

Was there for a Sunday club race. Christian and his Mom (Denna) showed up, remember he is the kid that had a steering problem a couple weeks ago at FZRC. Noticed that Christian had a friend with him, Travis, he was asking Christian if he could drive his buggy.

Talked with Denna about Travis, he fit the "MRCW" spec's!!!

Travis received a Traxxas Rustler with a custom painted body by EZ Customs, FZRC gave him a FREE race entry!

FZRC (Sarasota, FL)

A young man was planning to race his Electrix RC Boost 2wd Buggy BUT was having a servo problem. Marty the track owner asked me to have a look as he was busy getting everything ready to have races. Intro'd myself to Christian and we went over to my pit to have a look.It was a simple tightening of a screw. We talked about how to get MORE power/speed out of the buggy. Changed the stock white connectors to Deans, wire the motor direct to esc and tightened up the slipper. Another racer loaned him a set of race level rear tires, put a transponder mount hole in the body and he was ready to race!!!!

There were six in Beginner class and Christian qual in 5th place for the main, Christian had to leave before the main so his first race main is yet to be!!!

FZRC (Sarasota, FL)

Met with Andrew today at FZRC, to exchange chargers and batteries.

He traded a Duratrax Onyx 100 (NiCD & NiMH) charger for a B6 (every kind of recharge-able battery) charger.

Two Traxxas 3300 7-cell batteries for a SMC 6000, Gen ACE 5000, Turnigy 5000 and a Gold 4900 lipo batteies.

Plus I threw in a set of rear Slash rims.

Now IF I can just remember to give him the program card for the Speed Passion GT1.1 esc that he got 1/5/2013!!!

===

The Vet that got the front bumper and F/R shock towers, as at FZRC also. Marty (Owner of FZRC) installed the parts for him and he was having some REAL fun on the track!!!

HMIRCR (Sarasota, FL)

Was there for a Sat night club race, GREAT FUN!!!!! :-)

Andrew was pitting next to me, he had just got a Traxxas Slash 2wd and was worrying about racing in his first race. Had a talk with him finishing "last" and how that wasn't possible! Showed him a race results sheet, pointed out that NO where on the sheet was there a last place!!!

We did some adjustments to his Slash, so he was ready for his first qual. He had a good run finished 3rd.

As we talked, he shared what his plans where for the Slash, motor and esc, lipo batteries. Told him that the motor and esc he had planed to get wasn't a good upgrade for racn', it was a good upgrade to run in front of the house!

He asked what I thought what would be a good motor and esc for him to get as a race system. Told him a Speed Passion GT1.1 with a Speed Passion 10.5 Sportsman motor as I handed him both! Another racer had time to install the motor and esc as I was due at the track to turn marshal. Had time to set the radio system the the esc for him and out he went for his 2nd qual. He qual in 5th for the main. Finished in 4th NOT BAD for his first race!!!

As we where getting Andrews Slash ready a guy asked me if I was the guy who ran "MRCW"? :-) He is to old to get a RC from us, BUT when he told me he was a disabled VET, I asked what WE could do for him. He needed a front bumper for his Traxxas Rustler. Pulled a extra Slash front bumper out of the pit box and that was just what he was looking for, handed him a RPM front and rear shock towers also. Thought he was going to cry from the blessing!

So let's see what did we do today,

1 ESC
1 Motor
1 Front bumper
1 Front shock tower
1 Rear shock tower

1 HAPPY KID
1 HAPPY VET
4 HAPPY RACERS who seen "MRCW" work for the first time

1 HAPPY ME!!!!

That's 12 HAPPY bits! :-)

Now for next week!!!!!!
